150 exercise books and 475 kg. milk were distributed by the Mission Headquarters among 80 students of Baladbandh village, while medicines worth Rs. 4,1777- were distributed to 1567 patients through Kalikata Bidhan Manab Bikash Samiti, Howrah. Total expenditue incurred Rs. 16,284.
The centre at Shillya, Dist. Burdwan, ran a primary school and also rendered service in many ways to women and children. Daily tiffin and uniforms were provided free to 746 students, besides books and other school materials. The homoeopathic dispensary run by the centre treated 3626 patients. Distribution of clothes, warm garments etc. was done regularly. Clothes, blankets and foodstuff were also distributed among 700 flood stricken people in West Midnapore and other places. The handicraft school for grown-up girls and school for cottage industries counted 68 students. In all, the centre spent Rs. 5,87,683 for the above activities.
The Weaving-cum-Tailoring Training Centre in Thakurnagar Village, Purba Midnapore had 29 trainees who earned money while learning. Religious and cultural classes for ladies in and outside the centre as well as other charitable activities, a Sunday school for children and free coaching classes up to standard IV continued as before. Tiffin and clothes were given to the children. The homoeopathic dispensary treated 2739 patients. The Eye Section counted 152 patients. Total expenditure for the above activities : Rs. 2,66,641.
The centre at Gangarampore conducted a primary school for poor children of different castes and religions from pre-I to class IV and a Balwadi. All the children were provided with books, uniforms, medicines whenever needed, tiffin and midday meal every day. Clothes and warm garments were given to them twice a year. The vocational school for the village women imparted training in tailoring, embroidery and other handicrafts (attendance : 20), while literacy classes for women were held regularly in collaboration with Vivek Chetana (No. of beneficiaries : 20); they were also taught some handwork. The health clinic Sevakendratreated 5515 patients. Medicines worth Rs. 3,19,117 were distributed free. Financial help for medical treatment and supply of medicines and nutritious food to needy women and children as well as distribution of clothes and blankets at the time of Durga Puja and in winter continued as before. In all, the centre spent Rs. 11,34,718 towards rural welfare.
The primary school at Khonsa village functioned as in the past. During the period the centre spent Rs. 1,36,960 towards village welfare work and Rs. 44,710 to help 11 students for further studies in other schools and colleges. Pecuniary help worth Rs. 32,869 was also given to 25 needy persons.
At Sihore, Dist. Bankura sarees and clothes were distributed among 1898 needy women and poor children while books, fees etc. were given to 56 school students. The charitable homoeo pathic dispensary treated 3826 cases. Medicines were distributed free. The centre also conducted 3 medical camps (No. of beneficiaries : 203).
The Bangalore Math continued its rural development work initiated in 2001 in the village of Junjaramanahalli, Tumkur, about 85 km from Bangalore : (1) coaching classes for 165 children who were also given midday meals regularly, (2) tailoring and incense-stick rolling classes for 20 village women, (3) desilting/digging of ponds and well, and digging of bore well, (4) construction/renovation of old houses and huts, (5) construction/repair of roads and bridges, (6) help in cash and kind to students and others; financial help to needy villagers for medical treatment etc., (7) free general medical camps in nearby areas, where 200 patients were examined and medicines distributed free. 11 eye camps and 2 dental camps were conducted for 614 patients out of whom 192 underwent cataract operation.
In all, the centre spent Rs. 11,57,321 for the above purposes.
