NIBODHATA
, the only Bengali journal of Sri
Sarada Math, is published quarterly. The four
issues of the journal are published in
July, October, January and April. The January
issue is a special one. Since its inception
in 1987, the magazine has been enjoying much
appreciation from different sections of people
both in India and abroad. NIBODHATA contains
articles on serious matters related to religion,
science, art, culture, society, history and
the like. The list of contributors includes
senior nuns and monks, as well as erudite
scholars from respective fields and devotees
deeply interested in Ramakrishna-Vivekananda
ideals. |
|
| The
word NIBODHATA, literally meaning, ‘learning
about the Self’ comes from a well-known
verse of Katha Upanishad, oft-quoted by
Swami Vivekananda. His vision of an ideal
magazine is found echoing from his writings.
He said, "...by
the spread of new ideas within the country,
the public at large will be benefited...In
language and literature, in poetry and arts,
in everything, we must give the public only
positive ideas...We should lift all, rouse
all...The ideas, language and everything
should be moulded in a new fashion, a new
vigor must be introduced in the Bengali
language..."
NIBODHATA strives
in its own way to realize that vision and
ideal of Swami Vivekananda. As the globe
becomes increasingly complex, consumeristic
and fiercely competitive, the life-giving
message of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother
Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda appear
more relevant and appropriate to the humanity
and its problems today. NIBODHATA stands
for upholding and propagating this universal
testament of hope and light for the people
in the modern century.
