The
Mission headquarters' activities
under this head may be broadly classified as follows:
(a) Financial
help amounting to Rs.1,59,175/- was given to needy women,
poor students and others (occasional:94, monthly:106)
including monetary help for medical treatment.
(b) Clothes were also
distributed among 2500 needy women and children of Dakshineswar
locality and other places. (c)
Milk, tiffin and blankets were distributed in different
places as detailed here below:

(d) Welfare activities at Pangot, Nainital: Sunday
classes were held regularly for 38 children. They were
taught Sanskrit Slokas from " Atmavikas ",
English language and handicrafts. 41 Ladies from
Pangot and nearby villages were taught knitting. Light
tiffin was given to all of them. During the period educational
help amounting to Rs.35,155/- was given to 17 needy
students of Pangot and other places. Clothe, sarees
and warm garments were also occasionally distributed
among poor villagers. The Nivedita School distributed
sarees and clothes worth Rs.84,557/- among 500 needy
women and children; the Siriti centre also distributed
clothing worth Rs.66,868/- among 779 needy women and
children, while the New Delhi centre spent Rs.1,73,380/-
among 219 needy women and children for distribution
of woollen and cotton garments, food, medicines as well
as pecuniary help.

| The Math headquarters also
undertook welfare activities: (a)
Financial help amounting to Rs.1,39,052/- was given to
needy women, students and children. No. of Beneficiaries
(occasional:81,
monthly:115). (b) Chhatu worth Rs.8,125/-
was distributed among 305 needy women and children of
Dakshineswar locality. (c) Sarees and clothes
were distributed among 954 needy women and children of
Dakshineswar locality, while 2229 sweaters were distributed
at different places, expenditure incurred Rs.95,686/-.
(d) 5000 blankets worth Rs.5,75,000/- were distributed
at different places through the rural centres. Sri
Sarada Math, Chennai under a project sponsored
by the Rotary Club, Ambattur Branch, distributed to among
29 students sleeping kits containing light bedding, utensils,
uniform-dresses, school bags etc., Educational aids was
given to 354 students while pecuniary help, cycles and
sewing machines are gifted to needy people.
Work for Children and Women:
The Math and Mission run an orphanage and free children's
schools and distributes food, medicines, books and clothes
among children of economically weaker sections of the
society. Non-formal schools for underprivileged children
are conducted in Karnataka where a free meal, uniforms
and books are provided. The Ramakrishna Sarada Mission
at Khonsa, Arunachal Pradesh runs a Residential High School
for tribal girls. The Sister Nivedita Girls' School, Calcutta
conducts free coaching classes for underprivileged
children. The Math and Mission helps women to uplift their
conditions in all possible ways, irrespective of caste,
creed and nationality. There are several schools, college
and vocational training centers including computer centers
and typewriting institutes run by the Math and
Mission to help the women to be independent. Balmandir
or Sunday classes for young girls are conducted in many
centers. The Mission organizes Charka (spinning
wheel) classes and training in handicrafts and needlework
to provide employment opportunities for village women.
Apart from this, financial help, food, clothes and medicines
are provided to needy women. The Math runs an Old
Age Home for Women at the Sri Sarada Math, Ernakulam,
Cochin.
